I've been meaning to do some google research on the damaging effects of chemical relaxers for the longest and found this website.It discusses some little known history of chemical relaxers.
So a black inventor was the forerunner of an industry now dominated by non-blacks?

It's pretty prevalent here in Texas. I'm sure you may remember from your stay in the DFW area. For many including myself, self-esteem issues have and will continue to keep black women from dealing with their natural hair. The media and celebrity personalities also make it hard.
However, at this stage in the game, there's no excuse for walking around in ignorance. The Internet alone fills in many "knowledge" gaps. Hope all is well in Ca. Blessings...
